At MyDirectMD, we treat each and every one of our patients as if they’re our top priority. Same/next day appointments with little to no wait time upon arrival are standard. We dispense generic prescriptions right in our office at prices discounted as much as 90% over retail. No additional stop at the pharmacy required. We also draw blood in the office and before we do, you will know the cost of each test, again discounted as much as 90% over retail. As a direct primary care practice, MyDirectMD does not accept any third party reimbursement. Eliminating the administrative burden that comes with this reimbursement frees our physician to provide care that is in the best interest of the patient, not the cost control mandates of the insurance company.

Direct primary care practices have smaller patient to physician ratios than traditional primary care providers. As a result, your physician has the time to properly diagnose and treat all issues with an intimate knowledge of your health and medical conditions as well as how your lifestyle and outside influences affect your overall well-being.

You will also have an active role in the responsibility and management of your care building a deeper, more productive and effective relationship with your personal care physician. You’ll enjoy a superior care experience with significantly reduced cost of care, a higher level of care quality, and greater satisfaction for you and your physician.

A Great Option for Employers

Many businesses have signed up to give their employees a membership with MyDirectMD. A membership with MyDirectMD gives the employee what they need - personal and convenient health care. While this is not a substitute for health insurance, (many of our members do carry health insurance and we encourage all of them to do so) it is access to primary health care. This means employees can stay healthier and spend less time out of work due to illness. We can also manage work comp cases and provide pre-employment physicals that will save significant dollars.

For a small employer with less than 50 individuals, we offer an affordable health benefit option that can be paid for with pre-tax dollars. If you are a fully insured medium sized employer, you can save on your monthly premiums by combining MyDirectMD with a higher deductible/out-of-pocket benefit plan. If you’re a large self-funded plan, MyDirectMD can deliver 15% to 35% savings directly to your bottom line through reduced utilization of more expensive providers of care.

Employer Frequently Asked Questions

Q: If we enrolled an employee and then they were either terminated or resigned, do we just stop paying the rate for that employee immediately, or are we obligated to pay for 12 months?
A: No. Just let us know their termination date and they are removed that day.
Q: Is there a COBRA type side to this where they can choose to continue to self-pay premiums to you after they have left the company?
A: We contact the patient directly and ask if they would like to stay on. We then transfer payment to their credit card. Most times they do.
Q: With some fringe benefits, there is a “group” obligation for the company to pay for a certain amount of months, even if the former employee is no longer with us.
A: There is absolutely no long term obligation. 30 days notice to cancel.
Q: So there is no contract with MyDirectMD and the business?
A: No. There is only the patient contract that they agree to at enrollment.

Our Hand Up Program

As part of our disruption of how health care is managed and delivered, MyDirectMD made a conscious decision to design a practice where primary care was affordable to every individual, regardless of his or her ability to pay. Our Hand Up program is for individuals and families that cannot afford any type of medical care. As part of our stated values, MyDirectMD has reserved 10% of our patient capacity for scholarships based upon nominations from local churches, charitable organizations, and our partners.

Our Employer Sponsor Program

The cost of health benefits continues to rise and has become an option that many employers can no longer afford. In fact, Florida has the second lowest rate of employer-provided health insurance at 39%. MyDirectMD can help make health benefits more affordable for all employers.

To extend the reach of our Hand Up program, MyDirectMD has structured our Employer Sponsor program to create additional Hand Up memberships. For every 10 members that join through an employer offering our membership to their employees, MyDirectMD will add one additional Hand Up scholarship membership. The additional Hand Up memberships generated by an employer’s enrollment will be reserved for that employer and their employees to designate an individual or family who they know could benefit from this membership. Recipients could be a fellow employee, a friend, a family member, or maybe a neighbor. Regardless, it increases our ability to provide comprehensive primary care to individuals who otherwise would not be able to receive any care at all.

One of the biggest (and most important) differences you will find between MyDirectMD and other traditional family practices is the size of the practice's patient panel. Most family physicians have a patient panel of around 2,500 patients, with some seeing as many as 3,000 to 4,000 patients! At MyDirectMD, you become part of an intimate family practice with a patient panel less than half the size of the traditional family practice.

Dr. Muzzi was born and raised in southwest Florida. She graduated from the University of Florida in 2003. She then attended medical school at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and later graduated in 2007. Dr. Muzzi completed her family practice residency at Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills, Michigan and became a Board Certified Family Practice Physician in 2010. Her professional interests include office based procedures, women’s health, pediatrics, dermatology, and diabetes management.

Dr. Muzzi looks forward to reestablishing the trusted doctor-patient relationship in a patient-centered practice, providing care that is tailored to your specific need and goals.

Erin has lived in Orlando, Florida for 13 years. As a first time mom, she has found that her understanding of love and compassion has become even more profound than ever before. Besides motherhood, Erin’s passion is healthcare and the well-being of others.

She attended the University of Central Florida and graduated with a Bachelor in Health Services, to pursue her goal of opening an assisted living facility. A chance meeting with Eric and Dr. Muzzi changed her course and she has had the wonderful opportunity to serve our community at MyDirectMD. Alongside Dr. Muzzi, Erin has been treating and healing patients within a different model of healthcare, one where the patient comes first.

What is MyDirectMD?

MyDirectMD is a patient-focused direct primary care (DPC) practice delivering family health care that is immediate, thorough, affordable, and custom-tailored to your specific needs. As a direct primary care practice, MyDirectMD does not accept any commercial or governmental insurance. This allows you and your MyDirectMD primary care physician (PCP) to control your medical decisions, not insurance mandates or bureaucrats.

What sets MyDirectMD apart from other practices?

Unlike a traditional primary care practice with about 2,500 to 4,000 patients, our practice is limited to less than 1,000. This allows our physicians to spend the time needed to get to know you, your family, and your medical history.

You’ll enjoy a superior care experience that is focused on what is in the best interest of your health, not cost control. By refusing to allow any interference with the sanctity of the physician/patient relationship, we have returned family practice medicine to its root values of clinical excellence with cost-effective, convenient, and compassionate care.

Will I still benefit from MyDirectMD even if I don’t require frequent medical attention?

Absolutely! Our patient-centric culture inspires an overall healthy lifestyle and delivers services that create a valued care experience. Patients that require intense chronic care management obviously benefit for the custom-tailored and physician-monitored care plan. However, many of us who do not see a physician regularly have not done so because of the high cost and inconvenience associated with that visit. With same day appointments, no wait upon arrival, video chat appointments, text and email communications - all with no per visit copays or deductibles – MyDirectMD removes those barriers to care and practices proactive health, not just reactive acute care. For our most healthy patients, we are devoted to maintenance of your good health and delivering the enhancements to your daily experience that only physical well-being can bring. Every patient of MyDirectMD receives an annual comprehensive physical exam designed to not only improve, but in some cases save the lives of our patients. This allows your PCP to establish a baseline for your health status and identifies any problems or potential issues that may need immediate attention. From there your health profile is updated at a minimum annually and ensures early detection of any risk factors for cardiovascular, diabetic, and other chronic conditions such as high PSA count, high blood pressure, uncontrolled blood sugars, etc.

Does MyDirectMD accept health insurance?

No. Thankfully, happily, and unequivocally - no.
Insurance has a place in managing serious health issues, but not in everyday health care. We decline insurance reimbursements in order to save our patients from the arbitrary and intrusive decisions that inevitably occur with third-party payers and enable us to spend the time needed to provide a superior care experience. Declining insurance also frees us from the typical contractual agreements that would prevent us from offering wholesale prices on laboratory tests, imaging, and medications to our patients.

As a patient of MyDirectMD do I still need health insurance?

Our monthly subscription fee does not include the services and resulting costs incurred from providers outside of MyDirectMD including specialists, hospitalization, ER, surgery, etc. We strongly recommend that our patients have a high deductible major medical plan with a health savings account or become a member of an approved medical cost-sharing program. While your MyDirectMD subscription includes access to our discounted cash pricing network of specialists, labs, and imaging, you should have an option for reimbursement of expenses due to a catastrophic medical issue.

Is the MyDirectMD subscription fee tax deductible?

Unfortunately not. In most states your monthly subscription fee is not considered a medical expense. Consult with your tax professional to clarify your tax consequences in your particular circumstance.

What happens if I go to the hospital or need to see a specialist?

Because your PCP has the time required to thoroughly exam, diagnose, and treat your health conditions, referrals to specialists and hospitalizations are significantly reduced. However, when a referral to a specialist or an admission to the hospital is required, your PCP is by your side. Your PCP is intimately knowledgeable of your health issues and will coordinate your care directly with the hospital and any specialist. As appropriate, your PCP will closely monitor and work in coordination with all care providers required to manage your treatment.

Does MyDirectMD accept children as patients?

Yes, we accept dependent children of adult members at a discounted monthly subscription of $25. Children whose parents are not patients are $45 per month. At this time we are unable to provide routine vaccinations to school aged children, but will be happy to work with you to arrange these.
